Slay 4 A Cause™, Inc is a non-profit organization standing strong with Kidney Warriors and the communities impacted by kidney disease. Through awareness, education, advocacy, and meaningful support, we honor and empower individuals battling kidney disease from all fronts.
Rooted in lived experience and fueled by compassion, we're turning pain into purpose in memory of Richard (Rick) Slayman, a pioneering Kidney Warrior who made a selfless sacrifice by undergoing the first xenotransplantation.
Our mission is dedicated to empowering communities through kidney awareness, prevention, and meaningful support for individuals battling kidney disease, their caregivers, organizations, service providers and the medical professionals who care for them.
Together, we educate, we fight, we heal, and we thrive as we work to raise awareness, inspire hope, and create a future where kidney disease no longer steals another tomorrow.

Ways We Slay the Risk:
💚Slay, Save, and Love Empowerment Workshop
Our Slay, Save, and Love Empowerment workshop, facilitated by a certified Kidney Health Coach through the American Kidney Fund, creates safe and empowering spaces for education, dialogue and proactive learning surrounding kidney health. Through storytelling, trusted kidney health resources, and meaningful conversation, participants are encouraged to advocate for prevention, early detection, and healthier futures for their kidneys and the kidneys the love.
💚Slay the Risk: Kidney Health Bingo
We've proven that awareness about kidney disease does not have to feel like a lecture. Through Slay the Risk: Kidney Health Bingo, education meets empowerment in an interactive experience where participants learn about kidney disease symptoms, prevention tips, and kidney health facts, one number at a time, in an effort to save one kidney at a time.

No one should have to face kidney disease alone. Nor should caregivers have to navigate the journey of supporting and caring for loved ones battling or healing from kidney disease alone. Our goal is to alleviate some of the heavy burdens individuals and caregivers face while navigating this kidney disease. Our efforts are rooted in continuing Richard (Rick) Slayman’s legacy and honoring his courage, hope, and impact on the kidney community.

The Kidney Warrior Program is Slay 4 A Cause, Inc's signature initiative, created to honor, uplift, and support those impacted by kidney disease. This program recognizes the strength, resilience, and lived experience of Kidney Warriors, as well as caregivers, medical professionals, and service providers who stand alongside them every step of their journey.
The Kidney Warrior Program was intentionally designed to carry forward the legacy of Richard (Rick) Slayman and his contributions that advanced kidney disease innovation. Now entering its second year this program continues to support, celebrate and amplify our warriors courage, and resilience. Rick's legacy reminds us that courage can spark change. Through the Kidney Warrior Program, we carry that legacy forward uplifting warriors, empowering communities with knowledge and inspiring hope for a future where kidney disease no longer steals another tomorrow.

Rick made a selfless sacrifice to undergo this groundbreaking procedure, not just for himself but for the future of medicine and the hope it provided. His sacrifice illuminated new possibilities, advanced scientific understanding, and paved the way for others-like Tim Andrews, Towana Looney, and Lisa Pisano and those who will come after them-to have options that once seemed impossible.
