The Cause 4 Our Slay
Slay 4 A Cause™, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded in honor of Richard "Rick" Slayman and inspired by the lived experiences of those impacted by kidney disease. After witnessing firsthand, the challenges faced by Kidney Warriors and their caregivers, Founder Faren L. Woolery committed to creating an organization dedicated to awareness, education, and support.
Turning pain into purpose, Slay 4 A Cause™, Inc. is committed to raising awareness about kidney disease, empowering individuals and communities through education and prevention, and helping ensure that no one faces kidney disease alone. Through our work, we strive to turn awareness into action and prevent kidney disease from stealing another tomorrow.
Rick's journey inspired a movement that continues to fuel our mission of education, advocacy, hope, and action. His selfless sacrifice, and willingness to advance medical innovation are the inspiration behind our cause and reason for our slay.

The Kidney Warrior Program is Slay 4 A Cause, Inc's signature initiative, created to honor, uplift, and support those impacted by kidney disease. This program recognizes the strength, resilience, and lived experience of Kidney Warriors, as well as caregivers, medical professionals, and service providers who stand alongside them every step of their journey.

Rick made a selfless sacrifice to undergo this groundbreaking procedure, not just for himself but for the future of medicine and the hope it provided. His sacrifice illuminated new possibilities, advanced scientific understanding, and paved the way for others-like Tim Andrews, Towana Looney, and Lisa Pisano and those who will come after them, to have options that once seemed impossible.
Because of Rick's selflessness, the medical community gained invaluable insight that will shape the future of xenotransplantation. His legacy is not contained to a single event but extends to the countless lives that will be saved and the landmark moments that will follow, like the Richard Slayman Clinical Xenotransplantation Workshop.
